Danish auction house Bruun Rasmussen has opened bidding on the collection, which carries an estimate of DKK 100,000 (roughly $14,600 USD). But this lot is much more than just a quick nostalgia trip for die-hard fans. It is a rare artifact straight from the inner circle of rock and roll royalty.
The Story Behind the Album
On May 1, 1967, Elvis and Priscilla Beaulieu tied the knot during a lightning-fast, eight-minute ceremony inside a private suite at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas. Only about 14 guests witnessed the vows.
Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis's notoriously controlling manager, heavily orchestrated the guest list and the media rollout. He made sure the wedding looked pristine for the public.
Instead of a massive public spectacle, the actual ceremony was tight and contained. Afterward, the newlyweds hosted a breakfast reception for roughly 100 guests.
